Dinner at Marma and P'Bo's

After a nice weekend, we headed to Marma and P'Bo's house for dinner. Christina and Jared came over with Ms. Debbie, Christina's mom. Hatcher always loves going to Marma's house so he can ride the 4-wheelers with Daddy, Uncle Jared and P'Bo. Aunt Christina and he hung out on the swing a while to enjoy the nice weather. It was a nice visit and when we went to leave, Hatcher told me and Derek goodbye...he wanted to stay the night with Marma. Man is he growing up!

Trip to Aquatic Center - pool and more...

Hatcher has been asking about going swimming again as of late (having swim lesson withdrawl of course!) and with the Aquatic Center opening their outdoor play area this past weekend, we told the kids we would take them. It wasn't too crowded, but there was a line most of the afternoon to get in. The county did a great job of providing something for everyone. After coating everyone with 55+ sunscreen and packing the towels and water, off we went the long 2 mile drive (it is literally down the street from us) to the newest addition to our local recreational complex...the "mini-water park." We stayed for about an hour and Hatcher had a blast. Derek went down one of the slides and said it was worth the 15 minute wait - considering we didn't have to drive an hour to the official water park. Aidan absolutely loved it too! He kept trying to scoot further and further into the zero entry (beach like) water pool. Splashing and kicking...he couldn't get enough!

Aidan is 10 months old - Gets a big boy car seat!

It is hard to believe that Aidan is 10 months old now. Although he was pooped after a long day of fun, I managed to get this photo of him before he passed out. He looks so small in this car seat to me...especially next to Hatcher, side by side in the back seat.

Here is Hatcher at 10 months and 1 week. Man - seems like lifetimes ago!

Memorial Day at Berkeley Lake - Huey Helicopter Ride

On Saturday this past weekend, Derek and I took the boys to the Berkeley Lake Memorial Day celebration down near the river. In honor of remembering those who have battled and lost their lives to serve for our country, Berkeley Lake enlisted Sky Soldiers along with Army support to re-enact a fight from Vietnam before offering rides in a Huey that logged more than 1,200 fighting hours in Vietnam. Army Humvees were provided as shuttles to and from the event. It was all very cool, but VERY scary for Hatcher. I told Derek that July 4th will not be any fun for Hatcher this year. The blanks they shot combined with the smoke bombs were too much for our little man. He kept saying, "Mommy, the red steam scared me!" He even told his teachers at school today about the red steam. Poor guy. Well, the helicopter ride was amazing. Derek went first while I watched the kids and then we switched so I could ride later. It was awesome. See some of the aerial pictures below. Uncle Jared and Aunt Christina came by for the fun too. They didn't get to jump on the helicopters though...but did bring the new motorcycle!

What a great weekend!

Aunt Roxie and Uncle Jim come for a visit...

Thanks Aunt Roxie and Uncle Jim for coming to visit! We had so much fun. With a packed schedule, the weekend flew by.

Although good to get away, Derek and I went out without the kids for the first time leaving both boys at home with Grandma and Tom to see a freezing cold Braves game on Friday night. Who would have thought 48 degrees in May! Babysitters Grandma and Tom tell us the kids did okay...but as expected both were testing the limits with mom and dad gone.

Saturday morning we all went for a nice walk around the lake to end up at the park for some swings and slides. The boys loved it...especially Hatcher. That afternoon we enjoyed a quick bit to eat outside at Moe's and headed downtown to the GA Aquarium, what kid wouldn't love that! Everyone had a great time. We had to take two cars everywhere and Hatcher would always ask if Aunt Roxie and Uncle Jim were behind us. When he didn't see them he would say, "did we loose them?" Saturday night Jim cooked the adults a dinner of pork chops and grilled squash. Yummy - thanks for the new recipe Jim!

The house was more quiet tonight with Hatcher not chasing relatives down and around every corner. When we put Hatcher to bed, he asked about Aunt Roxie and Uncle Jim - too sweet. Aidan, almost 10 months old now, scooted around on his bottom all weekend to tried and keep up with busy Hatcher. It was a good weekend...back to grind of work tomorrow...yuck!

Mother's Day Weekend

I had a lovely Mother's Day weekend. We kept very low key and didn't do many chores and just took it very easy. We went strolling through the Forum Shops and enjoyed a lovely dinner and ice cream treats. We hit the park and visited a bit with our neighbors and their daughter Madison. It was nice and refreshing...a good way to start a week with Derek out of town.

Braves Game

Last Sunday afternoon we went to the Braves game with the boys along with our usual Braves crowd folk and their children. Before we all had kids, we would all go (approx. 15 people) to at least 10 home games a year. Things have sure changed, but upon suggestion from Colman (thanks!) we all managed to load up the cars and head to the game together...kids in tow. Marc hosted a lovely brunch for everyone before the game at his place in East Atlanta so we all met over there in the late morning for drinks and food. After the boys had their bloody marys and beer, the girls enjoyed their mimosas, we packed up and went to see the Atlanta Braves beat the Cincinnati Reds 14-7 at Turner Field. The kids did great. Besides the adults we had Hatcher - 27 months, James - 17 months, Audrey - 11 months, Maddox -10 months, and Aidan - 9 months. They all did great. The Kemmerlin krew headed out first and when we got into the car the boys passed out within minutes for the ride home. It was fun. I took too many pictures as usual, so I created this montage. Aidan is 9 months old

Aidan is nine months old now and really scooting around well. I am not sure that he will ever really crawl...so much as he will scoot around on his bottom. He has mastered that pretty well. One day the speed at which he moves will frustrate him enough that he may choose to crawl. He is getting bored with baby food lately and is looking for more substance. This weekend he tried pancakes, french toast, graham crackers, and yogurt. He is growing so fast. He speaks, well - baby babbles, and says "da-da" and "no" and "ma-ma." He is really changing everyday lately. It is so fun to watch.
