Hatcher has been asking to start T-ball. He has been really excited. On Mondays when we come home he runs inside to change his clothes and get his bat and bag and go to the car ready for practice. It is really cute to see him get so excited. It is really the first sport he is this exicted about. Derek makes sure he is home every Monday night for practice - I think he loves it as much as Hatcher. They enjoy it! Since Derek had to miss the first game, we video'd some of it. Marma and P'Bo came out to see it...P'Bo was on hand to assit the players. It was super cute. We ended just before the rain arrived and won the game! A day trip to the mountains
Derek really has been itching to check on our mountain property again...and the boys were excited about going hiking. So, reluntanctly I agreed and off we went. We made it a quick day trip - packed a lunch, snacks and chairs and headed north. The switchbacks are no fun for me...the boys sleep right through it. But it was a beautiful day. We must have seen hundreds of motocycles out riding. We even saw a Porche group out riding...one of them got a bit overconfident and drove off the side of the mountain thankfully landing up against a tree. Whew! Outside of that excitement, it was just a wonderful day to be outdoors. We got home and everyone enjoyed dinner on the deck and the boys helped me plant the last of our plants! All in all it was a great weekend!
Dressing up - at school and home!
Wow...to be 5 again. Both Hatcher and Aidan have imaginations that are overflowing with activity. Our house is like one-long game of charades. Between Derek's voice-overs, Hatcher's "repeat everything you say" mode, and the boys always acting out some pretend play - there are always conversations in this house which I am no longer part of. Whether they are animals, every folk or superhero...there is always an act somewhere in this house. Aidan and Hatcher switch off the role of "Daddy" - but someone is always the Daddy.
For Christmas, Aunt Lisa gave the boys these dress up outfits. They have been getting good use of them. Some days they will come downstairs in these outfits and try to get Derek and I to
play along. All fine and well - unless it is a week day! They also recently had a dress up photo day at school. The boys opted to be astronauts. To the moon! Enjoy the photos of my many "village people!"

The Circus was in town...okay, back in Feb :)
I am still trying to catch up on this blog. I keep getting sidetracked. But, alas...a few more to do today. We took the boys to see Ringling Brothers and Barnum & Bailey's Funundrum Circus on Feb 27th. This year, we took them to the pre-show. They got to go down on the circus floor and watch the clowns and elephants up close. It was a lot of fun. Derek and I both were amazed how much we still enjoy it. Student of the Week
This was Hatcher's second time as "Student of the Week" but we were just as excited. This time I was sure to capture it on "film." He was super proud. He is always a big helper at school and really loves his teachers (Ms. Mary and Ms. Christy). I know he will be more than prepared for Kindergarten this coming fall.

Valentines Day
The boys were really excited this year about Valentine's Day. Not completely sure why - perhaps another reason to have a party at school. I got them these super cute shirts and decided to stick with the tradition of sending family Happy Valentines Day cards. They turned out super cute. Hatcher turns FIVE!
What a big boy! Hard to believe Hatcher is officially five years old. We decided to celebrate his birthday at Ultimate Gymnastics this year. He loves going each week and when I learned that they had birthday parties there, we were in! He was able to invite his friends from school this year and he was super excited about that! The kids enjoyed an hour of jumping, running and getting time on the trampoline followed by the well deserved cake!
Being half way through Pre-K now, Hatcher is doing more things than I ever imagined he would. He is starting to read, has spelling tests on site words, doing homework every weeknight, and really involved in family activities. He is really starting to color and enjoy coloring a lot more. I am including some of his more recent and really cute drawings. As for sports - well, it has started. Hatcher is in spring T-ball ( plays for "the Mets" at PCBC), he is rounding out the second half of tennis lessons, finishing his year with Church choir, and near the end of his second year in gymnastics. No soccer for Hatcher now (Aidan is doing that instead of T-ball) but he always puts his kleats on to help out Aidan.
Hatcher is an extremely loving little guy. He adores and has an amazing bond with Derek. He gets sad when Derek travels too much. He is still very helpful with Aidan for almost everything. He is just a huge love and I feel super blessed to be his mom.

Let it Snow, let it snow, and even more SNOW!
An entire week of snow. Who would have thought 6 inches of the stuff would shut this city down. But as Sunday night (Jan 9th) came to a close around 10 pm, the snow fell...and came down fast and hard. With a layer of ice underneath it all and temps frozen below 20 degrees the weather system that brought the white stuff did exactly that...shut Atlanta down for an entire week. The schools were closed from Monday through Friday and most didn't reopen until the 17th of January.
Day 1 - Monday, January 10th
Day 2 - Tuesday, January 11th

At the end of the second day,temps still near 20 degress, the sun managed to peak out. We gathered the snow off the front covered porch and built a little snowman.
Day 3 - January 12th - Sunny but SUPER COLD.
At the end of this day we knew we would have to start scraping the driveway if we were going to get out. The next two days were the worst on the roads. Some of the snow and ice would melt and refreeze again each night. By day 5 most of the roads had been scraped at least once and sanded. Even our road finally got scraped and sanded...ironically the last day we finally cleared the driveway of ice.
At the end of this day we knew we would have to start scraping the driveway if we were going to get out. The next two days were the worst on the roads. Some of the snow and ice would melt and refreeze again each night. By day 5 most of the roads had been scraped at least once and sanded. Even our road finally got scraped and sanded...ironically the last day we finally cleared the driveway of ice.

A White Christmas - the first since 1882 in Atlanta
The boys were so excited to go down and see what Santa put in their new bags. What a wonderful treat...a white Christmas. The snow starting falling mid-day but we got around 2 inches of snow. It has been over 128 years since Atlanta saw snow on Christmas...and even then it was only a third of an inch. How lucky are we?
We had to leave Grandma's house a bit early due to the snow falling and dropping temperatures - there was an increased chance of ice. So when we did get home, we all got out and played for a while in it. So much fun - made for a great Christmas!
The morning after Christmas, we got up had breakfast and went outside to enjoy the snowfall. The snow was too icy to make snowmen, so we went "sledding" on our boogie board instead. I think it was way more fun. I had the camera settings off and so these pictures are a bit off...but - still fun to see.
