Happy Birthday Grandma
Birthdays, birthdays and more birthdays. So much fun and such a great reason to eat cake! Who doesn't love cake? Seriously...love it. Well, on July 20 - Grandma turned 62...and doesn't she look FABULOUS? I sure hope I have those amazing "aging well" genes. The boys loved helping me make cake for "the party" as they always do and we were able to have a big dinner with Grandma and Grandpa Tom. It is funny, Hatcher is at the "why" age and wants an explanation for almost everything. So for Grandma's birthday, Hatcher asked me if there is a medium old since she wasn't really old but not old like me or Daddy. HA - old...it is a relative term isn't it? Happy Birthday Grandma!

A trip to Athens with Aunt Roxie, Uncle Jim and Hilton
The Adams family came for a visit the weekend of Chad's 40th birthday. And how lucky that on Chad's big day they closed on their new house in Watkinsville. Being so close to Athens, that when we drove everyone to see the new house - Roxie and I decided we would take the kids to campus to run around. And...since Uncle Jim had never seen it either, we brought him along. It was such a great time - although really hot! The kids had fun ringing the bell, running around all the green space and playing in the fountain. We stayed on North campus and toured the rest by car - but not before heading downtown for some ice cream to cool us off a bit!
Happy 40th Birthday Uncle Chad!
Hard to believe we are all approaching that milestone. Since Chad and family were busy on his actual birthday moving and such, we decided to host a birthday celebration at our house. Derek and Grandaddy Wayne visited the party store for decorations and were sure to remind Chad of his age - old age that is. The kids had so much fun getting ready for the party. It is great that they are living local now - so the boys can see each other more often. It was wonderful to have all the cousins together so they could play and create new memories. The boys are all 2 years or less apart...so they will likely be somewhat close as they grow up. Uncle Jim made ribs and Derek and I finished all the side dishes.
It didn't take long for Derek to corale everyone down to the basement to play Rock Band. I think everyone took turns playing at least one musical instrument - or singing. Here are some of my favorite pictures.
Grandaddy Wayne and all his grandchildren...couldn't get one where everyone was looking at the camera and smiling...this was the best one!
Before everyone left Sunday morning, I got this cute picture of the boys all telling me who was tallest...too cute! They are each near exactly 18 months apart.

4th of July Weekend
Okay - so work remains awful and I am finally taking back my evenings. And top of my list is to update this blog. It is my way of keeping track of the boys and what we are doing. It all goes by so fast...I can hardly believe that it is already August 11! But that means only 2 weeks left until our vacation in Watercolor. I am so ready. But back to business at hand. I am loading the video from our wonderful 4th of July weekend. We spent Friday night at Amy and Greg's pool and Saturday morning at the parade here in Berkeley Lake. Derek and Cynthia came over for grilling as did the "goddard gang" - the kids all had a blast. We shot fireworks and had good food - great company. We rounded out the weekend with a nice calm Sunday dinner at Neil and Ramona's house then back to the docks for our local fireworks display over the water. It was a great weekend. Happy Birthday America.

Coming soon
For those of you who monitor my site and curious why I am so behind...work has truly been taking over my personal time. But here is what is coming, 4th of July, Chad's 40th, a visit from Grandaddy Wayne, Abuelita, and the Adams family, Grandma Marilyn's birthday and Aidan's 3rd bday. So a quick sneak peek before I head out to another wonderul vacation!
Our trip to Lake Cypress Springs - it is a tradition in the making!
Okay - so I am really REALLY way behind on posting. Pretty much the whole of July hasn't been captured on this blog and this trip below was in June. I promise to catch up after our trip to the beach. We are headed to Naples tomorrow - super exicted and ready to get away from work.
So this one is for my wonderful niece Ashton...who checks our site regularly. Ashton - we had so much fun hanging out with you for our annual lake trip. Although it seems so long ago...the boys still talk about it all the time. We really enjoy this "tradition" and hope it continues for many more years to come. Love and hugs to you all. I am attaching my favorite picture of all - the cousins. Dad would be so proud. We miss you tons "Grandpa Craig" and hope you are able to watch these amazing kids grow up. It is surely something you would cherish! Enjoy the video - it is a bit longer as I took TONS of great photos.

Maddox's 3rd Birthday Party - and big announcement of Baby Bayer #2
Hard to believe that Maddox turned three on June 17th. Derek and Cynthia hosted a party at their house with a pool and all that goes with the summer. The boys had so much fun...and we found out that Derek and Cynthia are expecting their second child at the end of this year. Congratulations you too - we couldn't be more happy for you. By the way, Hatcher predicts a boy! Here are my favorite photos from the day.

Aidan's first trip to the movies...Toy Story 3
It is funny how this whole thing came about. Hatcher has been telling me for a while that he is "tired of school and needs a break." Actually the conversation went more like this: Everyday Hatcher has been waking up with the first words out of his mouth..."Do I have school today?" When Derek or I would reply, "Yes" - Hatcher would proceed to have a meltdown or try to negotiate all the reasons why he should stay home. Thankfully he is not "faking being sick"...yet - although Aidan does that! Then the conversation got more serious and riddled with tantrums. "Mommy, I just can't take it anymore. I need a break...this is too much." So of course I responded with - "Ha...really, too much? - you are 4! You have 18 more years of this." Then he dramatically fell to the floor and whined - "No Mom...you can't do this to me. That is too much. This is serious...I need a break!" OMG - are you kidding me? I was laughing for days...until it hit me. Maybe he does need a break. So I talked with the teachers and admins and decided to take Fridays off in the summer - giving the boys three-day weekends. Seems to be working well so far. We have made big days of it. And I am LOVING my time away from work - which has been absolutely no fun and really stressful lately!
This particular day we met the Smith family (sans Greg) at their club and swam in the pool for a couple of hours and enjoyed lunch. After a good nap - we headed to the last matinee show and met Derek for Toy Story 3. It seemed time for Aidan's big movie outing. We weren't sure how it would go since Aidan can't sit still for too long. He just gets bored. Man, it seems like only yesterday Derek and I took Hatcher to see his first movie - Madagascar 2. I think he was nearly 3 - just as Aidan is today. Hatcher was asking to see the movie at the time and we made it a special treat for him after a laser treatment. But - since I knew Hatcher wanted to see Toy Story 3 and Aidan was about the same age - Derek and I decided we would take them both!

Summer soccer - what were we thinking?
My god - what in the heck were we thinking...3 and 4 year olds playing soccer in near 100 degree heat? Holy moly - even Hatcher was like "it is just too hot Mom!" We shall see how many of these sessions/classes we make. There are 8 weeks in all and we have missed two already! Our next one is this coming Sunday afternoon. I will say that although Hatcher BEGGED us to let him do this again...Aidan loves it WAY more. He can't get enough! Hatcher is now more interested in golf or tennis. Lord help us!
