Time to carve the pumpkins - and we were lucky enough to get Derek up long enough to take part. After recovering from the 2nd ER visit last Saturday night...we thought he was on the mends...but Tuesday night things took a turn for the worse. Sick for nearly 6 hours straight, we once again ended up in hospital for dehydration. We were there from 2 am until 6 that morning. He is now down almost 12 lbs...but eating food again and gaining strength each day. We are all ready for him to be himself again...the kids have really missed playing with him. So - we were so glad Derek could take part in the pumpkin carving. This was the first year that Hatcher was able to carve his own pumpkin - and he rocked it! Derek drew dots on the pumpkin in the face description that Hatcher gave us...and off he went. He wouldn't let either of us help him. Aidan on the other hand was more interested in the pumpkin guts. He LOVED pulling the seeds out with his hands. He told Derek he wanted a moon on his pumpkin...but Derek had to help him carve it out. Derek and I even made a jack-o-lantern with our big pumkin - giving it a Happy Hal - loween face. Derek started it...but just didn't have the energy to finish. I finished it...and then we lit them on the front porch. What fun...it has been years since we have done that. Kids make life so much fun! And - we even roasted the pumpkin seeds. MMM - good!
