Christmas Eve - filled with 2 big surprises

What a wonderful start to the holiday. Derek and I hosted Christmas Eve this year. Not only did we have Marma, P'Bo, Uncle Jared and Aunt Christina, but we also had surprise guests from Colorado...Chad, Cathy, Aspen, Morgan and Zachary. Although i knew...and so did Jared and Christina, Derek (as well as Marma and P'Bo) had no clue. It was quite the Christmas present. They drove cross country to celebrate with family and even lugged all their gifts back to GA for the special day! Derek and I had turkey, ham, corn casserole, rolls, broccoli-cheese rice, mashed potatoes and more to offer everyone for dinner. We even made pumpkin and apple pies for dessert. It was loads of fun to have everyone at our house.

Our second surprise of the night was a visit from Santa Claus himself. Our crazy neighbor Brian spotted Santa at Berkeley Lake - Santa had made a pit stop for the reindeer so they could take a drink of water and rest at the lake dock. Brian chased Santa down and told him that there were kids just up the way that were super excited about his upcoming visit and perhaps he should stop by. So he did...Thanks Santa. And an even bigger thanks to Brian and his dad. The boys were like deers in headlights - it was priceless. Hatcher and Zach were in heaven. Aidan was getting over a stomach bug and just wasn't feeling it at all - but enjoys telling everyone today about his close encounter with Santa!

That night, Marma and P'Bo stayed over as the first official guests in our newly finished basement so they could see the boys open their gifts from Santa. After everyone left, we made a quick batch of cookies and put out some carrots for the reindeer and cold milk for Santa - we knew he would be late getting back to our neck of the woods. How exciting!
